Sungkai Buffets In Brunei - Emperors Court

As soon as we heard there was prawns and duck on the menu we were smitten, 15% off cash payments too so, we decided to give it a whirl.
Emperors Court is located in Hua Ho Manggis Mall on the third floor.
(Side note not everything in this review will be all peaches and cream, as I will personally be giving my 100% honest review about it)

When you first enter the place it is spectacular, very oriental.

There were even these very old looking and intricate vases.

So we were definitely in a very comfortable and nice place to have our dinner, or so we thought.
Lets move on to the food.

Kicking it of with a super HIGH point,
Roasted Duck!
(look at that duck butt. hubba, hubba)

The roasted duck station was actually really nice, they had a guy behind who cuts the selected pieces for you, very friendly too.

Can you tell how happy we were to finally eat some roasted duck after SO long?

Moving on,

The drinks station hosted some hot coffee and teh tarik and some cold mango and rose cordial drinks.

There was also a fresh ABC station right by the drinks.

For some starters they had spring rolls and some sort of I wanna say crabstick?

More Starters!

Fresh curry soup station!

Additional soup condiments!
Moving on to the main courses.

Their fried rice was actually very nice but then again who can say no to chinese fried rice?

Fried mee, here's a downside, the mee was overcooked (not fresh tasting) and was very soft, so we didn't enjoy it and believe me, we eat noodles alot in our house so we know when it tastes fresh and when it doesn't.

Baby kailan is one of my favorite vegetables so you can't possibly imagine how happy I was to see it.
It was so good that i went back for seconds, but when I did they tasted sour and changed the color, so I'm guessing that problem had something to do with the fire below and the constant exposure.

Big fan of tofu, I'd eat it everyday if I could.
Sadly, the only good part of this was the carrots.
The tofu was overcooked and SO soft it was like eating baby food.
I would have preferred it if they served the Japanese tofu as that holds its shape more longer.

The ginger beef was nothing spectacular either, it was more gingery than any other taste.

The lamb chops were highly under seasoned and tasted like it was microwaved more than freshly cooked.

The wok cooked fish was nice, but a bit tough and under seasoned too. Upside, it was made with FRESH fish.

Fresh calamari rings, tastes best when fresh and hot because once it became room temperature it was really rubbery.

Here is a real disappointment to us, the salted egg yolk prawns looked so good, till we cracked them open and ate them, tasting more of their vein-y disposal region than the prawn,
Not removing the vein on the back really ruins the taste a prawn should have.

They also had wok cooked chicken, but of course I wasn't here for the chicken dishes, although mummy said it was really nice, so I'll take her word for it!

Surprising to see spaghetti at a Chinese restaurant. It was spelt "Sparhetti" which was super funny.

Desserts!
Fresh fruit and Melon jelly.

They had Chinese pancake! except its lotus flavored.

Banana and sweet potato fritters, downside was that the potato fritters weren't even whole slices of sweet potato, it was just very misleading.

No, just no.. the cakes they served were so dry, it would have gone well with ice cream but it was so dry alone.

All in all it was an okay dinner.
Nothing that BOOM in your face spectacular though.
